World Cup baby boom in Germany

It's not just Golden Pigs and auspicious numbers that trigger pregnancy frenzies.
Germany is currently experiencing a post-World Cup "baby boom," according to birth clinic statistics in the country. The excitement aroused by Germany's performance in the competition may have increased the average birth rate for the current period by up to 15 percent. This is good news for Germany, where the birth rate is a meager 1.36 children per woman, lower than the European Union average, and of course, well below the population replacement rate. It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "soccer mom."
